British Quality confirmed

A survey commissioned by Cabinet Maker has found consumers believe the defining feature of "British Made Furniture" is its superior quality over foreign goods. The Gfk/NOP statistics found that 57% of those surveyed thought that British furniture was ahead in terms of quality.
Good job - considering that many of Darlings of Chelsea products are made in the UK.

Add some colour to your sofa purchase

We love these new cushions, we have them on display in Fulham in one of our wooden display units aswell as on various sofas and they look fantastic. Summers is on its way, so why not add some colour to your living room to celebrate.

Stunning new velvet fabrics

We have developed a velvet Chesterfield range (also available on contemporary sofas), using Designers Guild fabrics. The picture isnt really doing it justice here, but please pop in to take a look. We have some fantastic fabrics to choose from, including the new Paul Smith range and Fanny Aronsen.

Watchdog investigate Land of Leather, Argos, Walmsleys

18 February 2008 - source Watchdog website
Hundreds of people have experienced rashes and blistering across their body since buying leather sofas from major high-street retailers.
The sofas are manufactured by Chinese firm, Linkwise.
Tracey Hayes paid £599 for a Bari leather sofa from Argos in October 2006. Several months later she had a rash and open, weeping wounds all over her back. She was admitted to hospital on three separate occasions.
Darren Tattersley bought a Reece sofa from Land of Leather for £700 in June 2007. Almost as soon as his skin came into contact with the sofa, it came up in a painful, itching rash. Land of Leather agreed to replace his sofa but until it arrives, he’s sitting on the floor.
Heather McKenzie fell asleep on her leather sofa one evening in October 2007, and woke up with blisters and a rash all over her back. She wrote to Walmsleys, asking the company to take her sofa away, but three months later it’s still sitting in her living room.
The latest research suggests the culprit could be a fungicide, possibly found inside sachets inside the sofa to help prevent mould and decay.
Lawyer Richard Langton, of Russell Jones and Walker, is heading a class action of 500 people looking for compensation for injuries they believe have been caused by the sofas. One hundred other law firms are also leading claims.
Linkwise says its products have nothing to do with the skin problems. It stresses that tests have so far been unable to establish a direct link between the reactions and any of its sofas. Walmsleys and Land of Leather agree, and say they’ve only received a small number of complaints.
Land of Leather says it has offered all affected customers a full refund or replacement and will now offer Darren Tattersley furniture on loan until his new furniture arrives.
Walmsleys says it passed on Heather McKenzie’s claim form to its insurers immediately, who are still investigating.
Argos tells us that it voluntarily contacted everyone who may have been affected, offering them all alternative furniture, and it’s still working with experts to find the cause of the problem.
